PROVIDING A WIDE CHOICE OF TRAINING AND COURSES IN A VARIETY OF DISCIPLINES



Major Waldron’s has a large, dedicated pool of NRA certified instructors who volunteer their time to train people in the safe use of handguns for fun, sport and personal protection. We have a heated indoor facility with classroom, kitchen and restroom as well as a 10 lane indoor firing range. You are not required to be a member of the NRA, or Major Waldron Sportsmen’s Association to take a class.

The courses we offer are comprehensive and thorough, often exceeding the hours required by NRA standards to ensure that each and every student gets the maximum amount of exposure to the concepts and training needed to master the basics of handgun ownership. Our students come from all walks of life; young and old, male and female, athletic and not. Your only requirement is being a law-abiding citizen with a clean criminal record and a willingness to learn and have fun.

Major Waldron Sportsmen’s Association is conveniently located on Route 9 in Barrington, N.H. just a few miles off exit 6W of the Spaulding Turnpike.

BASIC PISTOL

BASIC PISTOL

This NRA course teaches new or inexperienced shooters the foundations in safe and responsible gun handling and ownership. Students are required to be able to attend ALL classes - no exceptions! A twenty five dollar nonrefundable deposit is required to register for the class the remainder of the course fee will be collected prior to the class to facilitate mailing of the training materials. NH FISH & GAME HUNTER EDUCATION

State of New Hampshire Fish & Game Department’s certified course, required for the first time purchase of a NH hunting license. This course gives new hunters the knowledge, skills, and attitude to become responsible and safe hunters. Class size is limited to 30 students. Two different course types are being offered at Major Waldron’s:

Instructor lead classroom program. Note this is one course spread over multiple days. Classes are evenings 6pm – 10pm and a Saturday afternoon 12pm – 6pm

CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM MATCHES AND EVENTS

 
Competitive marksmanship is a big part of CMP’s mission. It reinforces firearms safety and enables competitors to further develop their marksmanship skills and, in many cases, earn recognition for doing so. In the information that follows you’ll find descriptions of upcoming matches, how to enter them and more information on course of fire and what you can expect from your participation. CMP MATCH DATES: April 26th, May 17th, June 14th, Sept 13th, Oct 18th 
2025 MATCH SCHEDULE SEE EVENT CALENDAR
All matches start at 9AM. Squadding starts at 8:30AM, most conclude by 1:00PM
Full Match Fee - $10.00, Juniors (14-20 yrs old) - $5.00 
Course of fire - CMP National Match format is 100 yards on reduced scale targets
Acceptable Rifles: U.S. Rifles caliber 30,7.62, and 5.56. Must be M1, M1A, AR15 or equivalent. Any Service Bolt Action that has not been sporterized. 
Optical Scopes: Rifles may have an optical scope with specific limitations on maximum power (Contact John Orr for specifics as noted below)

April 26th - CMP Clinic - 8:00AM to 4:30PM 
May 17th - National Match Course - 8:30AM - 1:00PM 
June 14th - National Match Course - 8:30AM - 1:00PM
Sept. 13th - National Match Course - 8:30AM - 1:00PM 
Oct. 18th - Garand/M1 Carbine Match - 8:30AM (Carbine match to follow) 

Disabled Veterans may participate if they can manage the above-mentioned firearms safely in order to compete. Please contact the CMP Chairman (John Orr) at least one week in advance to participate.

STRAFFORD COUNTY 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS

New members will be accepted this September.

Major Waldron’s is proud to host the Strafford County 4-H “Projectiles.” We know that children who are trained in the proper handling and use of firearms are safer and more responsible than children who are not. The instructors are volunteers who are trained by 4-H, and who are dedicated to teaching children gun safety and enjoyments of shooting sports of all kinds.

NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Class

 

Short Description:  The Basic Range Safety Officer Course provides the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to supervise and coordinate safe shooting activities at various ranges.  Attendees will be eligible to receive NRA certification as a Range Safety Officer (RSO).  This is a non-shooting course.  Firearms will be provided solely for familiarization and handling malfunctions.

No live ammunition is allowed in the classroom.

Cost is $90 ($25 non-refundable deposit in advance of class). MWSA members receive $20 discount. Class size is limited to twelve (12). Your seat is reserved upon receipt of your deposit. 

Please send a check for the initial deposit made out to Chris Carr and mailed to 20 Portsmouth Ave, PMB 176, Stratham NH 03885.  Attendees may bring snacks / drinks / lunch if you desire.
